Sales Kick-Off Merchandise: Kits That Make the New Financial Year Feel Like a Launch

How to plan sales kick-off merchandise for an April financial year: a themed kit, travel-ready gear, a winners' tier and the right delivery plan.

A good sales kick-off kit carries the theme of the new financial year, survives twelve months of field travel and gives you a visible way to reward the people who hit target. This guide shows how to theme sales kick-off merchandise, which bags, bottles and tees hold up on the road, how to build a winners' tier and whether to ship to the venue or to regional offices. It ends with a timeline that works back from an April SKO date.

What a sales kick-off merchandise kit has to do

An SKO is an internal event. Everyone in the room is on your payroll, and they will carry what you give them into client meetings, dealer visits and airport lounges for the next twelve months. That changes the brief.

A strong SKO kit should:

- Signal a fresh start. The new financial year brings new targets, territories and incentive plans. The kit should feel like part of that launch, not leftover stock.

- Work in the field. Sales teams travel. Bags, bottles and apparel need to handle trains, two-wheelers, cabs and long days.

- Stay presentable in front of customers. Your logo will go into client offices, so finish and branding quality matter more than item count.

- Make room for recognition. Top performers from the closing year should get something visibly better on the same stage.

Sales kick-off merchandise vs conference swag

Conference swag is built for strangers. It has to be light, cheap enough to hand out in hundreds, and memorable enough to bring visitors back to your stall. Our list of eco-friendly swag ideas for conferences covers that brief well.

SKO kits are the reverse. The headcount is known, sizes can be collected in advance, and you can spend more per person because each item is meant for daily use. You also control the moment of handover: on stage, at registration or at a regional huddle. That lets you plan the kit as part of the event, not an afterthought.

Theme the year: one line, one look

Most kick-offs have a theme line for the year. Something short like "Own the Market" or "Built for 2X" works on a backdrop and also on merchandise. The mistake is putting that line on everything.

A simple rule that works:

- Theme on the event items. Put the theme line on lanyards, the back of the event tee, the welcome card and laptop stickers. These are tied to the event and can carry the year's message loudly.

- Logo only on the long-life items. Keep bottles, backpacks and notebooks to a clean company logo. Your team will keep using them after the theme has been replaced by next year's.

- One colourway. Choose one primary colour and one accent, and match tees, lanyards and print items to it. A room full of matching tees looks good in event photos.

Before you lock the theme, upload your logo and artwork to Mockup Studio to see how it sits on tees, bottles and bags. Every order also goes through a digital mockup that you approve before production starts.

Field-ready gear for sales teams that travel

This is where SKO kits pay off. If the backpack and bottle go out on the first client visit after the event, the kit has done its job.

Bags and bottles that survive travel

The Casual Laptop Backpack - 15.6 inch is a practical base for field teams. It fits a standard 15.6-inch work laptop, and your logo is applied with DTF printing. For teams in coastal or high-rainfall territories, the Premium Casual Waterproof Laptop Backpack is worth considering ahead of the monsoon.

For drinkware, choose insulated steel over plastic. A vacuum bottle keeps water cool through a long day in a car or on a two-wheeler, and a steel body copes better with being knocked around in a bag.

Product Card: Sleek Vacuum Bottle 500ml - Black

The Sleek Vacuum Bottle fits a backpack side pocket and sits in the under-₹500 band. Your logo goes on by laser or UV printing. Laser marking is a good choice for a bottle that will be handled every day.

Performance tees for activity sessions

Many SKOs include an outdoor session, a team challenge or an early-morning run. Cotton tees get heavy with sweat. A performance tee is the better pick for these sessions.

Product Card: PUMA Dry Cell Ess T-Shirt

A few points to check before you order:

- dryCELL is a technology, not one fabric. PUMA uses dryCELL, its sweat-wicking technology, across many styles.

Ready-made SKO packs: Conference Swag Pack and Brand Booster Bundle

If you would rather not build from scratch, two packs fit sales events well.

Product Card: Conference Swag Pack

The Conference Swag Pack sits in the ₹1,000–₹2,000 band. It includes a round neck tee, an insulated bottle, a steel tumbler, a cap and a spiral notepad with pen and sticky notes, all in a magnetic gift box. It suits a large sales force where the tee and cap are worn at the event itself.

Product Card: Brand Booster Bundle

The Brand Booster Bundle is more field-focused, in the ₹2,000–₹2,500 band. It combines a polo, the casual laptop backpack, an insulated bottle, a coffee mug, a notebook, a touch pen and a mouse pad. It covers both the event day and the desk back at the branch.

You can browse more ready kits at preset packs, or swap items and add a theme card in Build a Box. Packs are priced item by item, so every swap changes the total line by line and you can see what each change costs.

The winners' tier: top-performer upgrades

The closing year's top performers will be at the SKO, often going on stage. Give them a gift that is visibly different but still part of the same kit.

Two approaches work:

- Same kit, upgraded pieces. Everyone gets the core kit. Winners get a better version of one or two items, such as the PUMA Ess Pique Tipping Polo T-Shirt instead of the standard polo, or the Offikraft Amigo Premium Laptop Backpack instead of the casual backpack.

- Core kit plus one hero item. Add one standout gift handed over on stage. The boAt Rockerz Wireless Headphone, branded by UV printing, is useful on long flights and train journeys. A power bank is another field-friendly choice.

For senior or frequent-flyer winners, the Executive Essential Pack brings together a PU leather passport holder, luggage tag, wallet, card holder, keychain and pouch. Logos on PU leather goods are laser-marked on a steel logo plate. A gourmet add-on such as premium dry fruits can round off the winners' box. Gourmet items are sold only with other products and do not get bulk discounts.

Keep the winners' kits in a separately marked carton so the stage team can find them quickly.

Delivering to the venue vs to regional offices

Where the kits land matters as much as what is in them.

Ship to the venue when:

- Most of the team attends in person.

- You want a handover moment at registration or on stage.

- The hotel or venue can receive and store cartons a few days in advance. Confirm the receiving contact, loading-bay hours and storage space in writing.

Ship to regional offices when:

- The SKO is a hybrid event or runs as regional rollouts.

- You want kits waiting on desks when people return to their branches.

- The kit includes bulky items like backpacks. People flying home do not want to carry an extra bag through security.

A hybrid plan often works best. Send tees, lanyards and badges to the venue, and send backpacks and bottles to regional offices. Ask us about packing and labelling cartons by region so each branch admin gets one clearly marked consignment. Delivery usually takes 2–4 business days by air or 5–9 by surface, so plan your regional dispatch around the slowest destination.

Timeline back from your SKO date

India's financial year starts on 1 April, and many kick-offs fall in the first weeks of the new year. Work backwards from your event date:

- 6 weeks out: brief and budget. Lock the headcount, the theme line, the per-head budget and the winners' list. If the spend comes from the closing year's budget, your PO may need to be raised before 31 March.

- 5 weeks out: sizes and artwork. Collect apparel sizes through a simple form and send final logo and theme files.

- 4–5 weeks out: mockup approval. Review and approve the digital mockup. Production cannot start until this is done. If any kits will travel by surface, aim for the earlier end of this window.

- Production: 7–10 business days after mockup approval.

- Delivery: 2–4 business days by air, 5–9 by surface. Express is possible on selected items only, so ask us if your dates are tight.

- Buffer: 3–5 days before the event to count cartons and fix any shortfall.

Deadlines are counted in business days. Early-April public holidays, such as Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April in many states and festival days that vary by state, can shorten your working window.

Budgeting SKO kits: bands, bulk discounts and GST

Every listed price includes standard logo branding and excludes GST. You get a GST invoice on every order.

A sales-wide order often reaches the bulk discount thresholds that apply to most products:

- 3% off at 25+ units

- 5% off at 50+ units

- 7% off at 100+ units

- 10% off at 200+ units

Gourmet items have no bulk discount. Gift boxes, candles and gourmet items are add-ons, sold only with at least one other product. For a detailed breakdown of quantities, branding and shipping costs, read our guide to bulk corporate gift pricing in India.

If your SKO is six weeks away, now is the time to start. Share your headcount, theme and event date through contact us for a quote, try your logo in Mockup Studio, or download the catalogue to shortlist with your sales leadership.

Frequently asked questions

How far ahead should we order sales kick-off merchandise?

Start about six weeks before the event. Production takes 7–10 business days after mockup approval, and delivery takes 2–4 business days by air or 5–9 by surface. You also need time to collect sizes, approve artwork and keep a buffer before the event.

Can our company logo go on the PUMA tees?

The PUMA Dry Cell Ess T-Shirt in our catalogue is branded with DTF printing. Ask us to confirm the exact style's fabric, logo placement and a test print, and approve the digital mockup before production. Your logo will sit beside PUMA's own mark, so check any internal policy on third-party brands before ordering.

Should SKO kits go to the venue or to regional offices?

Send event-day items like tees and lanyards to the venue. Send bulky, everyday items like backpacks to regional offices if people are flying home. Hybrid or regional SKOs usually do better with region-wise dispatch.

How do we handle apparel sizes for a large sales team?

Collect sizes in advance through a short form linked to registration, and close it before artwork approval. Order a small number of extra pieces in the common sizes to cover late joiners and exchanges.

What should a top-performer tier include?

Keep the core kit the same for everyone and upgrade one or two pieces, or add a single hero gift handed over on stage.
