Laser, UV, DTF or Sublimation? How Logo Branding Works on Each Corporate Gift
A product-by-product map of DTF, laser, UV, sublimation, digital and sticker branding: how each looks, how it ages, and the artwork rules for every corporate gift.

The material of each corporate gift decides how your logo goes on it: DTF on apparel, caps, bags and soft-cover notebooks, laser on pens, wood, bamboo, stands, pendrives and PU leather, laser or UV on steel and aluminium drinkware, sublimation on ceramic mugs and cloth items, UV on the EVM power bank and headphones, and digital or sticker printing on paper and packaging. This guide maps each method to the products it is used on and explains how each one looks and ages. It also gives you the artwork rules that get your logo right the first time.
Why the product decides the logo printing method
Most buyers ask which branding method is best. The more useful question is which method suits the material. Ink made to bond with cotton will not hold on polished steel, and a laser that marks steel cannot add colour to a T-shirt.
At Printing Labs, each catalogue product has one branding method, or a choice of two in the case of drinkware. Here is the short version:
- DTF printing: T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, hoodies, caps, tote and jute bags, backpacks, laptop sleeves, soft-cover notebooks and jute folders
- Laser: metal and wooden pens, wood and bamboo items, mobile and laptop stands, pendrives, card holders, keychains, and PU leather goods (on a steel logo plate)
- Laser or UV: steel and aluminium bottles, tumblers, flasks and insulated mugs
- Sublimation: ceramic mugs, coasters, lanyards, pin badges, cloth mouse pads and pop sockets
- UV: the EVM power bank, headphones and the Desktop Organizer Set
- Digital printing: cards, certificates and stickers
- Sticker branding: gift boxes, mailer boxes and paper bags
Our branding methods page lists the same methods. The sections below explain what each one means for how your logo will look a year from now.
DTF printing on T-shirts, caps, bags and soft-cover notebooks
DTF (direct-to-film) printing starts with your design printed onto a special film. The film is coated with an adhesive powder and then heat-pressed onto the fabric. It handles full colour and gradients, and it works on both light and dark fabrics, which makes it the right method for multi-colour logos on apparel and bags.
The Round Neck Cotton T-Shirt - 180 GSM appears in many of our welcome, festive and team packs. It suits team days and campus hiring drives, and the 180 GSM cotton gives the print a stable base.

How DTF looks and how long it lasts
A DTF print sits on top of the fabric and has a smooth film feel. Colours print bright and detail reproduces well, though hairline strokes are best avoided.
How long it lasts depends on care. According to Sam's DTF Transfers and other transfer suppliers, a DTF print can last 50 or more washes. According to Arnold Prints, a US transfer supplier, it can last 40–60 washes with standard care and 60–80 or more with the best care. The same source says a hot wash with no care can show visible wear at around 20 washes. These are industry estimates from transfer sellers, not independent lab tests, so treat them as a guide rather than a guarantee.
According to DTF Transfers, how well the print was pressed matters more than any single washing habit.
Laser engraving on pens, wood, bamboo, stands, pendrives and PU leather
Laser marking uses a focused beam to mark the surface itself. There is no ink layer to rub off or wash away, which makes it well suited to items people handle all day, such as pens, keychains and phone stands.
The trade-off is colour. A laser mark is single-tone, and its shade comes from the material. Wood and bamboo darken, and on metal the result depends on the finish. Your logo will not appear in brand colours, but it will look clean and understated.
In our catalogue, laser is used on:
- Metal ball pens, executive metal pens, wooden pens and the Premium Mobile Touch Pen
- Wood and bamboo items, including the Wooden Texture Diary, the wooden desk organiser, bamboo wireless chargers, the bamboo power bank, bamboo earbuds and the bamboo steel bottle
- Mobile stands and the aluminium laptop stand
- Pendrives, including the wooden pendrive, and the metal tin pendrive box
- Card holders, leatherette pen stands, the leatherette mouse pad and PU leather accessories
Why PU leather gifts carry a steel logo plate
On PU leather items such as the Classic PU Leather Gents Wallet, the logo is laser-marked on a small steel logo plate fixed to the product. The plate gives a crisp metallic finish and keeps the mark consistent across a large batch. Because the plate is small, use a compact version of your logo, usually the symbol or a short wordmark, rather than a long horizontal lockup.
Laser or UV printing on steel and aluminium bottles
Steel and aluminium drinkware is the one category where you choose between two methods. Bottles, tumblers, flasks and insulated mugs in our drinkware range can take either a laser mark or a UV print. The bamboo steel bottle is the exception and is laser only.
The Smart Temperature Insulated Bottle - Black shows the choice well. A laser mark gives a clean, single-tone logo, and a UV print brings your brand colours forward.

When to choose engraved vs full-colour
Choose laser when:
- Your logo works well in a single colour
- The gift goes to senior leaders or clients and should feel understated
- The bottle will be handled, carried and refilled every day
Choose UV when:
- Brand colours matter, for example a red or green logo that people recognise
- Your logo has several colours or gradients
- You are branding a white bottle and want a coloured logo to stand out
The exact shade of a laser mark depends on the bottle's finish, so check the mockup before you approve. If colour accuracy is the priority, UV is the safer choice.
Care advice for branded drinkware
We do not make a blanket dishwasher-safe claim for branded drinkware. Hand washing with a soft sponge is gentler on any finish, and you should avoid abrasive scrubbers on the logo area.
Sublimation mug printing: ceramic mugs, coasters, lanyards, badges and mouse pads
In sublimation, your design is printed onto transfer paper, and heat then turns the ink into a gas that bonds into a polyester coating or fabric. The print becomes part of the surface rather than sitting on top of it. It is full colour and smooth to the touch, with no raised edges.
Sublimation needs polyester fabric or a specially coated surface, which is why we use it on ceramic mugs and cloth items and not on bare steel. The White Coffee Mug A++ Grade - 325ml is the classic example. Its white base shows full-colour logos at their brightest, which makes it a dependable choice for team gifting and event giveaways.

We also use sublimation on:
- Black and coloured coffee mugs, and the 175ml white tea mug
- Tea and coffee coasters
- Multicolour lanyards for conferences and ID cards
- Pin-back button badges
- The Premium Mouse Pad (3mm thickness) and mobile pop sockets
Print area varies by product. A lanyard strip and a mouse pad need very different layouts, so let the mockup confirm placement and size.
UV printing on power banks and headphones
UV printing applies ink to a hard surface and cures it instantly under ultraviolet light. It gives full colour on gadget bodies, which is why we use it on hard tech items.
The EVM Power Bank - 10000mAh is UV-printed, as are the boAt Rockerz Wireless Headphone and the Desktop Organizer Set. Gadgets have limited flat space, so a compact logo works better than a full lockup with a tagline.
The bamboo power bank and bamboo earbuds follow the wood rule and are laser-marked, not UV-printed. If you want an eco story, accept a single-tone logo. If you want brand colours on a gadget, choose a UV-printed item.
Digital printing on cards and stickers, sticker branding on boxes and bags
Paper items use digital printing. This covers welcome and thank-you cards, greeting cards, A4 and A5 certificates, and the Laptop Stickers - Set of 2. Stickers cost little in a kit but stay highly visible, because new joiners often put them straight on their laptops.
Packaging uses sticker branding: a printed logo sticker on the magnetic gift box, the black corrugated mailer box, the white paper bag or the transparent pen box. The metal tin pendrive box is the exception and is laser-marked. Like gourmet items and candles, packaging is sold only with at least one other product.
One welcome kit, several methods: how the Glamour Welcome Kit is branded
Most kits combine several methods, and seeing them side by side helps you plan your artwork. The Glamour Welcome Kit uses up to six:
- DTF: Round Neck T-shirt, cotton tote bag and soft-cover notebook
- Laser or UV: Smart Temperature Insulated Bottle
- Laser: mobile touch pen and PU leather metal keychain
- Sublimation: black coffee mug and mouse pad
- Digital printing: laptop stickers and welcome card
- Sticker branding: the magnetic box
Product Card: Glamour Welcome Kit
Your logo will look slightly different on each item. It appears in full colour on the T-shirt and mug, in a single tone on the pen and keychain, and in either finish on the bottle. Send both a full-colour and a single-colour version of your logo so every item looks deliberate. You can browse more combinations in our ready-made packs, or build your own kit and choose the methods item by item.
Artwork checklist for each branding method
Some rules apply to every order:
- Send a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) where you can. If you only have a raster file, send a high-resolution PNG with a transparent background.
- Share your brand colours as HEX or Pantone values.
- Convert fonts to outlines so the text does not change when we open the file.
- Keep a horizontal version and a stacked or symbol-only version ready for small print areas.
Each method also has its own requirements:
- DTF: Full colour and gradients are fine. Avoid hairline strokes and very small text, and say whether the fabric colour should show through any part of the logo.
- Laser: Supply a solid, single-colour version. Gradients, shadows and photo effects do not translate, and thin outlines can disappear.
- Laser or UV on drinkware: Decide whether you want single-tone or full colour before the mockup. For UV on dark bottles, tell us about any white elements in your logo.
- Sublimation: Full colour works well. Bright artwork looks best on white mugs and coasters, so check the mockup for each mug colour.
- UV on gadgets: Use a compact logo with good contrast against the body colour.
- Digital and stickers: For cards, leave a safe margin around text. For stickers, tell us the shape you want.
From artwork to doorstep: mockup, production and delivery
Every order starts with a digital mockup of your logo on each product. Production begins only after you approve it and takes 7–10 business days. Delivery then takes 2–4 business days by air or 5–9 by surface, anywhere in India. Express production is possible on selected items, so ask us if you have a fixed date.
Every order comes with a GST invoice. Most products get bulk discounts at 25, 50, 100 and 200 units; gourmet items do not.
If you are ordering in December, you are likely planning year-end client gifts, January onboarding batches and team events before the financial year closes in March. Approving mockups a few days earlier gives you more delivery options.
The quickest next step is to upload your logo in Mockup Studio and see it on bottles, mugs and T-shirts. You can also download the catalogue to share with your team, or request a quote with your quantities and delivery cities.
Frequently asked questions
How many washes will the logo on a branded T-shirt last?
Our T-shirts are printed with DTF. According to Sam's DTF Transfers and other transfer suppliers, a DTF print lasts around 50 or more washes, and Arnold Prints estimates 40–60 with standard care and 60–80 or more with the best care. These are industry estimates, not guarantees. Washing cold and inside out, and never ironing directly on the print, make the biggest difference.
Can branded bottles and mugs go in the dishwasher?
We do not make a blanket dishwasher-safe claim for branded drinkware. Hand washing with a soft sponge is gentler on any print or finish, and smart-cap bottles should have the cap wiped, not soaked. If dishwasher use is important, ask us before you order and we will advise on the specific item.
Which branding method looks most premium on a steel bottle?
Many buyers see laser as the more premium choice because it gives a clean, single-tone mark with no ink. UV is better when your logo depends on colour. Compare both on the mockup before you decide.
Can you print full-colour logos or gradients on a bottle or power bank?
Yes. UV printing handles full colour and gradients on steel and aluminium drinkware, the EVM power bank and headphones. Laser-marked items, including the bamboo power bank, take a single-tone logo only.
